To add your ID to the Apple Wallet app, you need to follow these steps:

• Click on the “+” button at the top of the screen in the Apple Wallet app.
• Choose “Driver’s License or State ID.”
• Follow the on-screen instructions to start the setup and verification process.
• Take a selfie and scan the front and back of your driver's license or state ID card.

How to Add Your California DMV Digital ID to Google Wallet

To add your ID to the Google Wallet app, you need to follow these steps:

• Tap the “Add to Wallet” option in the Google Wallet app.
• Select the “ID card.”
• Select your state (California) and follow the verification steps with your physical ID.

California DMV's mDL Pilot Program

The California DMV's Mobile Driver's License (mDL) pilot program has been limited to 1.5 million participants. More than 500,000 Californians have already added an mDL to their phone using the California DMV Wallet app.

Other states that already support digital driver's licenses and state IDs include Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, and Ohio. More than 20 states are currently exploring the adoption of mobile digital licenses.
