Boeing and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), which represents around 33,000 of Boeing's workers, have reached a tentative labor agreement. This deal averts a potential strike that could have significantly impacted Boeing's operations.
While the union had initially pushed for more than 40% raises, the workers still need to approve the deal through a vote scheduled for September 12th.
Avoiding the strike is a win for Boeing's new CEO, Kelly Ortberg, who has vowed to get the company back on solid footing amidst safety and quality crises.
The union emphasized the importance of its members' work and reputation in ensuring the quality of Boeing's aircraft.
